Will eating Yousiming regularly raise blood pressure

Eating Yousiming regularly may cause an increase in blood pressure, but there are individual differences. Yousiming is a short acting contraceptive pill mainly composed of ethinylestradiol and drospirenone, and its hormone components may affect the blood pressure of some users.

Ethinylestradiol, the estrogen component in Yousiming, may lead to vasoconstriction and increase of blood volume by promoting the retention of water and sodium and the synthesis of angiotensinogen, thus causing an increase of blood pressure. Clinical observations have shown that some women may experience mild blood pressure fluctuations during the initial stages of medication, especially those with a history of hypertension or high-risk factors such as obesity and smoking, who need to be vigilant. Although Quercetin, as a progestogen component, has a certain anti mineralocorticoid effect, it may still interfere with blood pressure in conjunction with estrogen as a whole. It is recommended to regularly monitor blood pressure during medication. If the systolic blood pressure continues to exceed 140mmHg or the diastolic blood pressure exceeds 90mmHg, seek medical attention promptly. A small number of women may have lower sensitivity to hormones or faster metabolism, and there may be no significant changes in blood pressure. Research shows that when healthy young women use low-dose combination contraceptives in a standardized manner, the probability of blood pressure elevation is lower. However, long-term medication users still need to have their blood pressure checked every 3-6 months, especially those with a history of gestational hypertension, family history of hypertension, or renal dysfunction who should strengthen monitoring. If symptoms related to hypertension such as headache and blurred vision occur, medication should be stopped immediately and medical assistance sought.

During the period of taking Yousimin, a low salt diet should be maintained, with a daily sodium intake controlled within 5 grams and an appropriate increase in potassium rich foods such as bananas and potatoes. Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, and engage in 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise per week. People at risk of hypertension can choose contraceptive pills containing levonorgestrel and use a blood pressure monitor for home self testing under the guidance of a doctor. If long-term medication is required, it is recommended to have metabolic indicators such as blood lipids and blood sugar checked every 1-2 years.
