The method of self testing whether the body is dehydrated

Summer is a season that is' hydrophilic '. In the scorching heat outdoors, in a dry air-conditioned room, a glass of water can make people feel refreshed and invigorated. So, how do you know if your water intake meets your body's needs at the end of the day? Recently, Taiwan's "Health" magazine provided five simple and easy self testing methods for everyone to easily "monitor" themselves.

1. Drink water from two 1000ml water bottles. Especially for office workers, when they are busy with work, it is easy to forget to drink water. Nutritionist Li Yifang from Taipei Municipal Chronic Disease Prevention and Treatment Hospital suggests preparing two 1000ml water bottles every day, filled with water, and placing them in a visible and easily accessible location. When you pack up after work and go home, you will know if you have completed the task.

2. The color of urine should not be too dark. The most intuitive way to determine whether you have drunk enough water is to check your urine. If the color is dark, it means that you don't drink enough water and should drink more water. However, Jiang Shoushan, the director of the nephrology department at Shin Kong Hospital, specifically reminds that urine with a clear color like water may not necessarily be a sign of drinking enough water, but may also be due to kidney failure and inability to excrete waste from the body. At this time, it is best to go to the hospital to check if the kidneys are healthy.

3. Run to the bathroom no less than 5 times a day. Lin Jieliang, the attending physician of the nephrology department at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, pointed out that urine output is also an important indicator for judging whether the water intake is sufficient. Generally speaking, a person must excrete 1400-1500 milliliters of urine per day. The storage capacity of the human bladder is approximately 200-300 milliliters per session, so it is necessary to run to the bathroom 5-7 times a day to indicate that the body has consumed enough water.

4. Drink enough water corresponding to your weight. Jiang Shoushan pointed out that the amount of water to drink varies from person to person, and weight is a good indicator. Each kilogram of body weight can correspond to approximately 30 milliliters or more of water. For example, a person weighing 70 kilograms needs to replenish 2100 milliliters or more of water per day.

5. Thirst rarely occurs. Don't forget, thirst is the natural and most accurate "alarm" of the human body. There is a thirst center in the hypothalamus of the brain, which produces a feeling of thirst when the body lacks water. However, when this signal appears, the body's dehydration is already quite severe, so it is best not to rely on this indicator to replenish water. Also, pouring water vigorously when thirsty does not allow the body to fully absorb water. It is important to take small sips and savor them calmly, just like chewing in your mouth.
