Panic disorder, also known as palpitations or palpitations in traditional Chinese medicine, belongs to the category of emotional disorders. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease is related to factors such as deficiency of heart and gallbladder qi, liver depression turning into fire, phlegm heat disturbing the mind, etc. Clinically, commonly used treatment methods include calming the mind and regulating qi, soothing the liver and relieving depression, resolving phlegm and clearing heat, etc.

1. Trembling
Trembling refers to the symptoms of restlessness caused by sudden fright, manifested as palpitations, easy startle, and restless sitting and lying. The representative prescriptions are Chaihu plus Longgu Oyster soup, Wendan Decoction, etc., which can be coordinated with Taichong, Fenglong and other acupoints for conditioning.
III. Deficiency of Heart and Gallbladder Qi
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the gallbladder governs decision-making, and those with heart and gallbladder qi deficiency are prone to fear. This type of patient often has symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and excessive rest. Treatment requires nourishing qi and calming the nerves. Commonly used formulas include sour jujube seed soup and sweet wheat jujube soup. Dietary therapy can use calming ingredients such as lotus seeds and longan meat.

4. Liver Stagnation and Fire Transformation
Long term emotional suppression can lead to liver qi stagnation, and prolonged depression and fire transformation can result in symptoms such as irritability, poor sleep, and frequent dreams. The treatment is suitable for clearing the liver and purging fire. The prescription should be modified with Danzhi Xiaoyao Powder, combined with liver clearing herbs such as chrysanthemum and summer dry grass, and avoid spicy and stimulating foods.
Fifth, Phlegm Heat Disturbs the Mind
People with phlegm dampness constitution are prone to symptoms such as chest tightness, excessive phlegm, and nightmares. Phlegm heat disturbance can cause panic attacks. The treatment method requires clearing heat and resolving phlegm. Huanglian Wendan Tang is commonly used in combination with medicinal herbs such as Zhuru and Yuanzhi. The diet should be light and avoid fat, sweet, and thick flavors.

Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes both emotional regulation and physical improvement in treating panic disorder. It is recommended to maintain a regular daily routine, practice soothing exercises such as Eight Section Brocade and Tai Chi, and eat moderate amounts of calming ingredients such as lilies and Poria cocos. When the attack occurs, it can be relieved by pressing the Laogong acupoint, taking deep breaths, etc. If the symptoms persist or worsen, medical attention should be sought in a timely manner. Daily attention should be paid to cultivating an open-minded attitude, avoiding excessive thinking, and gradually establishing the ability to adapt to fear stimuli.
