What is the best temperature to preserve grapes

Grapes are best preserved in an environment between 0-4 degrees Celsius. The preservation effect of grapes is mainly affected by factors such as temperature, humidity, ventilation conditions, maturity, and storage methods. Grapes are sensitive to temperature changes, and low temperatures can effectively inhibit respiration and microbial reproduction, extending their shelf life. The refrigeration compartment of a household refrigerator can usually meet the demand, but it is necessary to avoid direct contact with the back wall of the refrigerator, which may cause frostbite. Retaining the stem of the whole bunch of grapes can reduce water loss, and placing them loosely in a breathable container can prevent crushing damage. The natural fruit powder on the surface of unwashed grapes has a protective effect and needs to be thoroughly dried before refrigeration after cleaning. Some special grape varieties, such as Sunshine Rose, have poor tolerance to low temperatures and may suffer from cold damage when the temperature is below 2 degrees Celsius. Grapes imported for long-distance transportation may undergo pre cooling treatment and need to maintain a stable low-temperature environment. Short term storage can be stored in a cool and ventilated place, but refrigeration is still recommended after 24 hours. Commercial cold storage is usually combined with controlled atmosphere technology, while household storage can try using fresh-keeping bags to isolate some oxygen.

When storing grapes, it is recommended to wrap them in kitchen paper to absorb condensed water, and regularly check and remove softened or moldy fruits. Avoid storing with fruits that release ethylene such as apples and bananas, and can be paired with citrus fruits to delay spoilage. Take out an appropriate amount daily and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes for better flavor. If it needs to be stored for a long time, it can be made into raisins or jam, but there will be some loss of nutrients.
