Unmarried women's mandatory medical examination items

Unmarried women must undergo six physical examinations, including gynecological ultrasound, breast ultrasound, thyroid function and antibodies, cervical cancer screening, and sex hormones. These tests can help evaluate the health status of the reproductive system, endocrine system, and breast, and detect potential problems early.

1. Gynecological ultrasound:

Gynecological ultrasound is a basic examination for evaluating the structure of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic cavity. For unmarried women, transabdominal ultrasound is usually used to observe whether the uterine morphology is normal, whether there are structural abnormalities such as uterine fibroids or ovarian cysts. If irregular menstruation or lower abdominal pain occurs, this examination can help determine whether there are problems such as polycystic ovary syndrome or endometrial polyps. It is recommended to have the examination within 3-7 days after the menstrual cycle is clean, as the endometrium is thinner and the observation effect is better.

2. Breast ultrasound:

Breast ultrasound is suitable for women of all ages, especially for young women with denser breast tissue. It can clearly display nodules, cysts, or proliferative changes within the breast. If a breast lump is touched or nipple discharge appears, breast ultrasound can distinguish whether it is a benign fibroadenoma or a lesion that requires further attention. This inspection is radiation free and can be repeated. It is recommended to have it checked once a year.

3. Thyroid function and antibodies:

Thyroid function tests include indicators such as thyroid stimulating hormone and free thyroxine, while thyroid antibody tests include thyroid peroxidase antibodies and thyroid globulin antibodies. Abnormal thyroid function may cause menstrual disorders, abnormal weight changes, or emotional fluctuations. If symptoms such as fear of cold, fatigue, or thickening of the neck appear, this examination can help diagnose the presence of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, and other issues.

4. Cervical cancer screening:

Cervical cancer screening mainly includes liquid based thin-layer cytology examination and human papillomavirus testing. Even unmarried women with a history of sexual activity are recommended to undergo screening starting from the age of 21. Early stage cervical cancer usually has no obvious symptoms, and screening can detect precancerous lesions such as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. If the examination results are abnormal, the doctor will recommend further vaginal colposcopy or cervical biopsy based on the situation.

5. Six types of sex hormones:

The six types of sex hormones include follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, and prolactin. This examination mainly evaluates ovarian function and endocrine status. If conditions such as infrequent menstruation, amenorrhea, acne, or increased body hair occur, the six hormones can help determine the presence of polycystic ovary syndrome, hyperprolactinemia, or premature ovarian failure. It is recommended to have blood tests taken on the 2nd to 4th day of the menstrual cycle, as the results are more informative.

It is recommended that unmarried women arrange an annual physical examination for the above-mentioned items based on their age and health condition. Pay attention to a balanced diet in daily life, consume high-quality protein and fruits and vegetables in moderation, maintain a regular schedule and moderate exercise, and avoid long-term staying up late and excessive stress. If there are menstrual abnormalities, breast discomfort, or unexplained weight changes, seek medical advice promptly and do not self medicate or delay testing. Regular physical examinations are an important means of maintaining health, and early detection of problems can help achieve better intervention effects.
