Can't I drink alcohol after eating sildenafil

It is not recommended to drink alcohol while taking sildenafil. Sildenafil is a prescription drug for treating erectile dysfunction, and taking it with alcohol may worsen adverse reactions such as dizziness and hypotension, affecting the effectiveness of the drug. Sildenafil works by dilating blood vessels, and alcohol also has vasodilatory effects. Simultaneous intake of both may lead to a significant decrease in blood pressure, resulting in dizziness, palpitations, and even fainting. Alcohol can also slow down the absorption rate of sildenafil, reduce the peak concentration of the drug, and weaken the therapeutic effect. Some people may misjudge their own state and ignore warning signals of drug side effects after drinking alcohol. Individuals with abnormal liver function have decreased metabolic capacity, which slows down the clearance of alcohol and sildenafil in the body, increasing the risk of drug accumulation. Simultaneous ingestion may induce angina or arrhythmia in patients with cardiovascular disease. Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach can accelerate the absorption of sildenafil and may cause sudden hypotension. Those taking nitrate ester drugs are absolutely prohibited from using them in combination, as it may cause fatal hypotension.

During medication, a light diet should be maintained to avoid high-fat foods affecting drug absorption. Maintaining moderate exercise can help improve blood circulation, but avoiding intense exercise can increase the burden on the heart. If symptoms such as persistent headaches and visual abnormalities occur, seek medical attention promptly. Strictly abstain from alcohol within 4 hours before and after taking medication, and monitor blood pressure changes on a daily basis. Store drugs away from light and moisture, and regularly check the expiration date of the drugs.
