Can I still get cervical cancer after getting the HPV 9-valent vaccine

Getting vaccinated with HPV 9-valent vaccine may still lead to cervical cancer, but the probability is significantly reduced. The HPV nine valent vaccine can prevent about 90% of high-risk HPV infections related to cervical cancer, but cannot cover all carcinogenic HPV subtypes. The HPV nine valent vaccine mainly targets high-risk types such as HPV16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58, which are closely related to the incidence of cervical cancer. Vaccines effectively prevent persistent infections and precancerous lesions of the aforementioned types by stimulating the body to produce specific antibodies. However, about 10% of cervical cancer is still caused by other high-risk HPV types, such as HPV35, 39, 51, 56, 59, 68, which are not included in the scope of vaccine protection. In addition, if HPV infection is already present during vaccination, the protective effect of the vaccine on that type will be reduced. The protective effect of vaccines may weaken over time, and it is recommended to complete three doses of vaccination according to the procedure and undergo regular screening. The antibody response of immunocompromised individuals may be insufficient and requires strengthened monitoring.

It is recommended to undergo regular cervical cancer screening, including HPV testing and cervical cytology examination, after vaccination. Maintaining a single sexual partner and using condoms can reduce the risk of HPV exposure. Quitting smoking can help reduce the probability of cervical cancer, and smoking can damage the local immune system of the cervix. A balanced diet and regular exercise can enhance overall immune function. If symptoms such as abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge are detected, seek medical attention promptly.
