Can benign breast tumors be cured through traditional Chinese medicine

Benign breast tumors cannot usually be cured solely through traditional Chinese medicine, but traditional Chinese medicine can be used as an adjuvant treatment to alleviate symptoms. Benign breast tumors may be related to endocrine disorders, genetic factors, unhealthy lifestyle habits, and other factors, and require comprehensive intervention with modern medical methods. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) mainly regulates benign breast tumors through principles such as soothing the liver and regulating qi, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, and softening hardness and dispersing nodules. Common prescriptions include Xiaoyao San, Guizhi Fuling Wan, Xuefu Zhuyu Tang, etc., which can help improve local symptoms such as breast swelling and pain, nodule texture, etc. Acupuncture and moxibustion selects Tanzhong, Qimen, Zusanli and other acupoints to regulate the movement of qi and blood. Some patients can alleviate discomfort by applying traditional Chinese medicine externally or moxibustion, but it is important to note that traditional Chinese medicine may cause gastrointestinal reactions or allergic reactions. Modern medicine believes that surgical resection is the preferred way to cure benign tumors such as breast fibroadenomas, especially for cases with large masses, rapid growth, or high risk of cancer. Minimally invasive surgery or traditional resection can completely remove the lesion, and the probability of postoperative recurrence is relatively low. New technologies such as ultrasound-guided vacuum assisted rotary cutting have less trauma. If the patient refuses surgery or is temporarily unsuitable for surgery, regular follow-up breast ultrasound or mammography can be performed to monitor changes in the tumor. If necessary, hormone regulating drugs such as tamoxifen can be used for intervention.

It is recommended that patients with benign breast tumors undergo breast ultrasound every 3-6 months, avoid consuming health products containing estrogen, and choose breathable bras without steel rings to reduce staying up late and high-fat diet. If symptoms such as sudden enlargement of the lump, skin indentation, or nipple bleeding occur, seek medical attention immediately. The combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment should be carried out in formal medical institutions. Do not trust folk remedies or take traditional Chinese medicine for a long time on your own to avoid delaying the condition or causing drug-induced liver injury.
