The undercooking of rice in an electric rice cooker is usually caused by deformation of the inner pot, malfunction of the heating plate, failure of the temperature controller, unstable voltage, or improper rice water ratio.
1. Inner pot deformation
Poor contact between the bottom of the rice cooker inner pot and the heating plate can lead to uneven heating. Long term use or collision may cause the bottom of the inner pot to sink or deform, making it difficult for heat to effectively transfer to the rice. Check if the inner liner is flat and replace it with the original liner if necessary to avoid scratching the coating of the liner with a metal shovel.
2. Heating plate malfunction
Heating plate oxidation or dirt accumulation can affect heating efficiency. Long term water residue may form an insulation layer, causing the temperature to not reach the boiling point. After disconnecting the power supply, clean the surface of the heating plate with a soft cloth. If the heating plate is found to be black or damaged, contact after-sales maintenance.
3. Failure of temperature controller
Damage to temperature control components can cause the rice cooker to trip prematurely or continue heating. It manifests as stopping halfway through cooking or boiling for a long time without skipping the insulation level.
4. Unstable voltage
fluctuations in household circuits may lead to insufficient power. When the voltage in old residential areas is below 200 volts, it is difficult for rice cookers to maintain their rated power. It is recommended to use a voltage detector to test the socket, and if necessary, install a voltage regulator to avoid using it together with other high-power devices.
5. Improper rice water ratio
Too much water can prolong the boiling time, while too little water may cause the bottom to become undercooked. The water absorption rate of different varieties of rice varies greatly, and new rice usually requires a 10% reduction in water content. Use a rice cooker with a measuring cup and add clean water according to the scale on the inner pot. It is recommended to use a 1:1.2 ratio for Northeastern rice.
When using an electric rice cooker in daily life, it is advisable to avoid burning it empty and promptly unplug the power after cooking. Regularly check whether the sealing ring is aging and leaking, and ensure that the outer side of the inner pot and the heating plate are dry and clean before cooking. If the above problems cannot be solved, it may be a motherboard malfunction that requires professional maintenance. Choosing high-quality rice and soaking it thoroughly for 20 minutes can improve the rice's ripeness and taste.
