Rice undercooked can be remedied by re stewing, steaming with water, microwave heating, stir frying, or making other foods. Jiasheng rice is usually caused by insufficient water, improper heat, differences in rice quality, pot problems, or premature opening of the lid.

1. Re stew
Spread the undercooked rice evenly back into the pot, pour a small amount of warm water along the edge of the pot, and the amount of water should just submerge the surface of the rice grains. Cover the pot and simmer over low heat until steam rises. Continue heating and use water vapor to penetrate the rice core until it is fully cooked. This method is suitable for situations where there is slight undercooking and the pot has good insulation, and attention should be paid to avoiding bottom burning.
2. Steaming with water
Transfer the rice to a steamer, spray an appropriate amount of water on the surface, and steam over medium heat. The thermal energy of steam can evenly penetrate the rice grains, especially suitable for rice with a cooked outer layer but a hard core in the center. During the steaming process, it can be flipped once to ensure even heating, which can better maintain the taste of rice.
3. Microwave Heating
Put the rice into a microwave container, cover the surface with wet kitchen paper or cling film, and heat it in sections over medium to high heat. After each heating, stir and add a small amount of water. Microwave can make water molecules vibrate at high speed, helping heat reach the rice core directly. Attention should be paid to controlling the time to prevent excessive loss of moisture from causing the rice to dry out.

4. Stir fry
Stir fry undercooked rice with ingredients such as eggs and vegetables, and soften the rice grains through oil temperature and secondary cooking. Add a small amount of broth or water during stir frying, and continue stir frying to allow the rice grains to absorb moisture. This way can transform the grain feeling required for Fried Rice, which is suitable for some sandwiches.
5. Change to Congee
Add raw rice into boiling water to cook Congee, and extend the cooking time to make the rice grains fully gelatinize. It can be cooked together with starchy ingredients such as pumpkin and sweet potatoes, which can mask the undercooked taste and increase nutrition. This method can completely solve the problem of undercooked food, but it will change the form of staple food.

To prevent undercooked rice, attention should be paid to the ratio of rice to water. Japonica rice is usually added with water in a ratio of 1:1.2, while brown rice needs to be increased to 1:1.5. Soaking rice can shorten cooking time, and the water absorption rate of new rice is lower than that of aged rice, so the water amount needs to be adjusted. When using a rice cooker, avoid opening the lid in advance. After cooking, continue to stew. Choosing thick bottomed cookware can distribute heat more evenly, and regularly check the sealing of the pot lid to prevent steam leakage. If the phenomenon of undercooked rice occurs repeatedly, consider changing the rice variety or adjusting the cooking equipment.
