What mold is good for making cakes with an air fryer

Air fryers can be used to make cakes using high-temperature resistant silicone molds, metal anode molds, paper cup molds, ceramic baking bowls, or glass baking pans. Different materials affect the uniformity of heating and demolding effect, and should be selected according to the type of cake and operating habits.

1. High temperature resistant silicone mold

Silicone molds typically have a temperature resistance range of over 200 degrees Celsius and are fully compatible with the high temperature environment of air fryers. Its soft properties make it easy to demold, making it suitable for making wet textured desserts such as mousse cakes or cheesecakes. It is recommended to apply a small amount of cooking oil before use to enhance the anti sticking effect, and avoid scratching the surface with sharp objects during cleaning. Some silicone molds are designed with breathable holes, which can promote thermal circulation inside the air fryer.

2. Metal Anode Mold

Aluminum alloy anodized molds have excellent thermal conductivity, which can make the cake body heated more evenly. Suitable for making chiffon cakes or sponge cakes that require shaping support, metal materials help to form a crispy crust. When choosing, pay attention to the anti stick coating on the edges, and it is recommended to place baking paper before placing it in the air fryer. The height of the mold should not exceed two-thirds of the air fryer basket to avoid affecting the circulation of hot air.

3. Paper Cup Mold

Disposable paper cup molds are suitable for making Muffin cakes or cupcakes, and can be directly placed in an air fryer without the need for additional containers. Choose thicker food grade coated paper cups to avoid oil penetration caused by high temperatures. The size of the paper cup should match the capacity of the air fryer, and no more than 6 cups should be placed at a time to ensure sufficient heating space. Before baking, you can brush a thin layer of oil on the inner wall of the cup, and it is more convenient to eat it directly with the paper cup after it is out of the oven.

4. Ceramic baking bowl

Thick walled ceramic container has good heat storage performance, suitable for making lava cakes or pudding desserts. Choosing a shallow mouth and wide bottom style is beneficial for hot air penetration and avoids choosing glazed ceramic to prevent heavy metal precipitation. Preheat the ceramic bowl for 5 minutes before use, pour in the batter, and cover the surface with tin foil to prevent excessive coloring. The ceramic material is relatively heavy, so it is necessary to ensure that the load-bearing frame of the air fryer is stable.

5. Glass baking tray

Heat resistant glass baking tray has strong visibility, making it easy to observe the baking status and suitable for making layered thousand layer cakes. Choose borosilicate glass material with uniform thickness and the ability to withstand rapid temperature changes. Glass has slow thermal conductivity, it is recommended to preheat it in advance and extend the baking time appropriately. After use, let it cool naturally to avoid sudden cooling that may cause cracking. When making cakes with an air fryer, regardless of the mold chosen, it is important to ensure that the capacity does not exceed 70% of the frying basket to ensure hot air circulation. Before using metal molds, it is recommended to apply butter and sprinkle flour to prevent sticking. Silicone molds can be frozen for 10 minutes before demolding. During the baking process, the mold can be flipped halfway to ensure even coloring. After being baked, let it stand for 5 minutes before demolding to maintain the integrity of the cake. Adjust the temperature according to the type of cake. Sponge cake is recommended to be baked at 160 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes, while cheesecake needs to be slowly baked in a 150 degree water bath. Paired with fresh fruits and low-fat cream decoration, it can enhance the taste and comply with health principles.
