Softened cookies can be restored to their crispy texture through methods such as heating, drying, or sealed storage. The softening of cookies due to moisture is mainly related to air humidity, improper storage, or damaged packaging. Timely handling can effectively improve the texture.

1. Heat it back to crispy

Spread the softened cookies flat on a baking tray and bake them in an oven at low temperature for a few minutes, controlled at around 100 degrees Celsius. Microwave ovens can also be heated for short periods of time, but attention should be paid to flipping them intermittently to avoid local overheating. Heating can evaporate residual moisture inside the cookie, causing the starch structure to tighten again. This method is more effective for cookies with high oil content, but repeated freezing and thawing may affect the taste.

4. Secondary baking

Biscuits that are severely damp can be re baked in a 150 degree oven for 5-8 minutes, which is equivalent to dehydration and reprocessing. This method is particularly suitable for making homemade cookies, and a small amount of flour can be sprinkled during baking to help absorb moisture. Close observation of color changes is necessary to prevent burning and bitterness.

5. Sealed and moisture-proof

Use vacuum sealed cans or chain bags to store cookies, with built-in deoxidizers to extend the crispy time. Glass jars have better sealing than plastic containers, and should be stored in the same cabinet as high humidity ingredients. After opening, cookies should be consumed as soon as possible, and it is recommended to pack them into small portions for storage during humid seasons.

Daily storage of cookies should avoid damp areas such as stoves and sinks. After opening, they can be wrapped in plastic wrap to block air contact. Choosing packaging with aluminum foil lining can better prevent moisture. For homemade cookies, it is recommended to cool them completely before packaging. If the cookies have developed mold or a rancid odor, they should not be consumed again. Long term consumption of spoiled food may cause gastrointestinal discomfort.
