What is the most effective way to deal with spicy chili peppers

Chili hot hands can be relieved by rinsing with cold water, applying cooking oil, using acidic solutions, wiping with alcohol, and applying aloe vera gel. The capsaicin in chili peppers can irritate the skin and cause a burning sensation. Timely treatment can alleviate discomfort.

1. Rinse with cold water

Immediately rinse the spicy area with flowing cold water for at least 10 minutes. Low temperature can temporarily paralyze nerve endings, reduce burning sensation, and flush away residual capsaicin on the surface of the skin. Avoid using hot water, as high temperatures can promote capillary dilation and worsen symptoms.

2. Apply cooking oil

Apply kitchen cooking oil or olive oil evenly to the affected area, let it stand for 5 minutes, and then wipe it clean. Oil can dissolve fat soluble capsaicin, reducing its adhesion to the skin. This method is suitable for situations where the contact area of capsaicin is small, and it should be cleaned with mild soap after treatment.

3. Neutralize the acidic solution.

Dilute white vinegar or lemon juice with water at a ratio of 1:1, dip it in a cotton ball, and apply it to the skin. A weakly acidic environment can partially neutralize the alkaline stimulation of capsaicin, relieving redness, swelling, and pain. Sensitive skin needs to be tested on a small scale first to avoid secondary irritation caused by acidic substances.

4. Alcohol wiping

Use a 75% medical alcohol swab to gently wipe the spicy and painful area. Alcohol, as an organic solvent, can decompose capsaicin and also has a disinfectant effect. This method is suitable for situations without skin damage, and moisturizing cream should be applied after wiping to prevent skin dryness.

5. Aloe gel repair

Apply fresh aloe leaf gel or finished aloe gel for 15 minutes. The polysaccharides and glycosides in aloe vera can calm and reduce inflammation, and promote the repair of damaged skin. The effect of aloe vera gel is better after refrigeration, and it can be recycled until the symptoms completely disappear.

After handling chili peppers, wash hands thoroughly and avoid rubbing eyes. It is recommended to wear gloves for daily meal preparation. If there are skin blisters, persistent severe pain, or allergic reactions, seek medical attention promptly. Long term exposure to chili peppers can use hand cream containing shea butter to enhance the skin barrier, and soaking chili peppers in vinegar water during cooking can reduce their irritability. Keep the affected area clean and dry, and avoid using alkaline cleaning products such as soap within 48 hours.
