What is the condition of hemorrhoid bleeding with jet like appearance

The jet like bleeding of hemorrhoids is usually an acute bleeding manifestation of internal hemorrhoid rupture, which may be related to the rupture of blood vessels on the surface of the hemorrhoids or a sudden increase in abdominal pressure during defecation. This situation requires timely medical treatment to avoid anemia or infection caused by continuous blood loss.

Internal hemorrhoids are located above the dentate line, and the submucosal venous plexus dilates to form hemorrhoids. When dry and hard feces rub against or abdominal pressure suddenly increases, mucosal damage on the surface of the hemorrhoids can cause arterial bleeding. The typical feature of arterial bleeding is the bright red and jet like blood, often accompanied by severe pain during defecation and a feeling of anal heaviness. Long term constipation, prolonged sitting and squatting, and increased abdominal pressure during pregnancy can exacerbate hemorrhoidal varices and increase the risk of rupture. Mild bleeding can be relieved by taking a warm sitz bath or applying hemorrhoid cream externally, but jet bleeding often requires professional medical intervention. In rare cases, jet bleeding may be accompanied by other anal and rectal diseases, such as secondary infection of anal fissures, rectal polyps and ulcers. If the bleeding volume is large and lasts for more than 10 minutes, or if there are symptoms of anemia such as dizziness and fatigue, immediate emergency treatment is required. Anal digital examination and anoscopy can identify the location of bleeding points, and if necessary, injection of sclerosant or ligation to stop bleeding should be performed. Elderly patients with recurrent jet like bleeding need to rule out rare causes such as rectal vascular malformation. During the acute bleeding period of hemorrhoids, the anus should be kept clean and forceful defecation should be avoided. Cotton balls can be temporarily used to compress and stop bleeding. Daily intake of dietary fiber should be increased. It is recommended to consume foods rich in dietary fiber such as broccoli and oats, and develop a habit of regular bowel movements. Avoiding prolonged sitting and standing, and engaging in daily anal exercises can help improve local blood circulation. If bleeding recurs or accompanied by prolapse of an anal mass, it is recommended to go to a proctology specialist for a comprehensive examination to rule out other organic diseases.
