What grape has the highest sweetness

Sunshine rose grapes usually have the highest sweetness, with a sugar content of over 20%. The main factors affecting grape sweetness include variety characteristics, lighting conditions, maturity, planting techniques, and climatic environment.

1. Variety Characteristics

As a hybrid variety cultivated in Japan, Sunshine Rose is naturally characterized by high sugar accumulation, compact and seedless flesh, and significantly higher soluble solids content than traditional varieties such as Kyoho. Red Earth grapes can also achieve higher sweetness through delayed harvesting, but require longer tree hanging time.

2. Adequate light conditions

Photosynthesis is the key to sugar synthesis. In arid and rainless areas such as Xinjiang, where the annual sunshine duration exceeds 2800 hours and the temperature difference between day and night is large, it is conducive to glucose accumulation. The use of high transparency greenhouse film materials in facility cultivation can increase the sugar content of fruits.

3. Maturity

The starch of fully ripe grapes will be completely converted into sugars, and delaying harvesting for 7-10 days can increase sweetness. However, excessive ripening can cause the skin to become soft, and regular testing of the sugar acid ratio is necessary after the hard core stage. The optimal harvesting period should have a sugar acid ratio of 35:1 or higher.

4. Planting Techniques

Yield control cultivation can significantly improve sweetness, and when the yield per acre is controlled below 1500 kilograms, the nutrient supply per spike is more sufficient. Maintaining a leaf to fruit ratio of 15-20:1 and implementing measures such as ring peeling and root cutting can promote the transfer of sugar to the fruit.

5. Climate Environment

The grape ripening season in the Mediterranean climate zone is dry with little rainfall, and the evaporation of fruit water promotes the concentration of sugar. The drought stress cultivation method of stopping irrigation 20 days before harvesting can increase the soluble sugar content. When selecting high sweetness grapes, the integrity of the fruit powder and the degree of lignification of the fruit stem can be observed. The mature fruit surface has uniform white frost, and the base of the fruit stem forms a delamination layer. It is suggested that the daily intake should be controlled within 200g, and diabetes patients should monitor the changes of blood sugar. Using a fresh-keeping bag to isolate oxygen during refrigeration can slow down the rate of sugar degradation. Eating nuts in combination can slow down blood sugar levels and prevent excessive stomach acid caused by overeating on an empty stomach.
