What can be used to clean tea rust

Tea rust can be cleaned with baking soda, white vinegar, citric acid, salt, or toothpaste. These materials have a dissolving or frictional effect on the oxides on the surface of tea sets, and are safe for common materials. Baking soda is a weakly alkaline substance that can react with tannic acid in tea rust. Mix baking soda into a paste and apply it to the tea stains, let it sit, and then scrub it off. Suitable for ceramic and glass materials, avoid using for aluminum products to prevent surface oxidation.

2. White Vinegar

The acetic acid in white vinegar can decompose metal oxides. Soaking tea utensils in vinegar or boiling a mixture of vinegar and water has a significant effect on stubborn tea rust. Materials with strong adsorption properties such as purple clay teapots should be used with caution, as residual acidity may affect the taste of subsequent tea brewing.

3. Citric acid

Citric acid has strong solubility for calcified tea scale, especially suitable for the scale on the inner wall of electric kettles. Soaking citric acid particles in hot water will not damage the stainless steel material. After processing, it can be washed multiple times to avoid residual sour taste.

4. Salt

Salt particles can remove shallow tea rust through physical friction. Suitable for porcelain with intact glaze when wiped with a soft cloth or sponge. Coarse salt may scratch the surface of utensils, it is recommended to use fine salt.

5. Toothpaste

Toothpaste contains friction agents and surfactants, which are effective for tea stains on plastics and glass cups. Dip a soft bristled toothbrush into it and wipe it, avoiding decorative areas such as gold edges. Thoroughly rinse after cleaning to avoid chemical residues.

Rinsing tea utensils in a timely manner after daily use can prevent the accumulation of tea rust. It is recommended to use purple clay teapots specifically for tea to avoid mixing flavors. Deep cleaning should not exceed once a month, as excessive cleaning may damage the tea set patina. Stubborn tea stains can be tried using different methods alternately. After cleaning metal tea utensils, they should be thoroughly wiped dry to prevent oxidation. If there are cracks or coating peeling on the tea set, the use of relevant cleaning agents should be stopped to prevent harmful substances from precipitating.
