What are the symptoms of mental mania

Mental mania is mainly characterized by symptoms such as high mood, runaway thinking, and increased activity. The symptoms of manic depressive disorder mainly include abnormal emotions, increased speech, impulsive behavior, reduced sleep, cognitive distortion, etc.

1. Emotional disorders

Patients often exhibit sustained and abnormal emotional highs, which may feel extremely excited or happy for no reason, and these emotions are inconsistent with the actual situation and difficult to control. Some patients may suddenly become angry over trivial matters, with intense emotional fluctuations and a lack of stability. Abnormal emotions may be accompanied by delusions of exaggeration, such as the belief in possessing superpowers or special identities.

2. Increased speech

Patients have significantly increased speaking speed and volume, often experiencing topic jumps that are difficult to interrupt. The language content may contain rhymes, puns, or improvised stories, and in severe cases, there may be a lack of logical connection between the preceding and following sentences. Some patients may continue to speak loudly until their voice becomes hoarse and does not stop.

3. Impulsive behavior

Patients may engage in high-risk behaviors such as excessive consumption, reckless driving, or casual relationships with strangers, and lack consideration for the consequences of their behavior. Some patients may exhibit aggressive behavior or destruction of objects, which is often accompanied by a significant decline in judgment. In some cases, patients may suddenly resign from their jobs or make unrealistic investments.

4. Decreased Sleep

Patients have significantly reduced sleep needs, and may only sleep for two or three hours a day for several consecutive days, still feeling energetic and even not feeling sleepy at all. This decrease in sleep is not caused by external stress, and patients often use their nighttime time for intense activity scheduling. Long term sleep deprivation may exacerbate other symptoms and lead to decreased physical function.

5. Cognitive distortion [SEP]: Patients with SEP are prone to distraction and are often attracted by irrelevant stimuli, leading to frequent switching of focus points. Possible delusional symptoms may occur, such as firmly believing that one has been selected for a special mission or possessing innate abilities that ordinary people do not have. Some patients may experience hallucinations, especially auditory hallucinations that are consistent with their exaggerated views.

Patients with manic depressive disorder should maintain a regular daily routine and avoid consuming stimulating substances such as caffeine. Family members should assist in recording changes in symptoms and accompany them for medical treatment in a timely manner. It is recommended to maintain a stable living environment, reduce external stimuli, and undergo medication and psychological therapy under the guidance of a doctor. Regular follow-up visits should be conducted to assess the condition and avoid adjusting medication dosage without authorization. If necessary, hospitalization may be considered to control acute symptoms.
