After taking Shenbao tablets, mild fatigue, dry mouth, or gastrointestinal discomfort may occur, which is usually a normal drug adaptation reaction. Shenbao tablets are mainly used for regulating kidney deficiency, and common reactions are related to individual differences, absorption of drug components, physical sensitivity, medication time, underlying diseases, and other factors.
1. Mild fatigue
Shenbao tablets contain multiple Chinese herbal medicines for tonifying the kidney. Some people may experience temporary fatigue during initial use due to their ability to regulate the circulation of qi and blood. This reaction often occurs three days before medication and gradually subsides as the body adapts. Avoiding medication on an empty stomach can alleviate this phenomenon. If it persists for more than a week, consult a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner to adjust the medication plan.
2. Dry mouth and tongue
Some warm tonifying Chinese herbal ingredients may accelerate the metabolism of body fluids, leading to dry oral mucosa. It is recommended to drink no less than 1500 milliliters of water per day during the medication period, and to consume yin nourishing foods such as pears and Tremella fuciformis in moderation. Blood glucose changes should be monitored when diabetes patients have severe dry mouth.
3. Gastrointestinal discomfort
Nourishing herbs such as Polygonum multiflorum and Rehmannia glutinosa may affect digestive function, causing bloating or decreased appetite. It is recommended to take it half an hour after meals, in combination with spleen strengthening foods such as yam and hawthorn. Patients with a history of chronic gastroenteritis should have their spleen and stomach function evaluated before medication.
4. Dizziness and palpitations
A small number of sensitive individuals may experience mild vasodilation reactions to aphrodisiac ingredients such as Epimedium, manifested as transient dizziness or increased heart rate. Avoiding consumption with coffee or strong tea can reduce the probability of occurrence, and those with obvious symptoms should reduce their use.
5. Skin reactions
Some individuals with allergies may experience skin itching or rash, which is related to protein substances in medicinal herbs. Immediately stop using and wash with decoction of Fangfeng and Difuzi. Severe allergies require intervention with antihistamines such as loratadine.
During the period of taking Shenbao tablets, one should maintain a regular daily routine and avoid staying up late and overexertion. The diet should be light and warm, with an appropriate increase in intake of kidney tonifying ingredients such as black beans, walnuts, oysters, etc. Avoid taking other nourishing traditional Chinese medicines at the same time to prevent overlapping effects. It is recommended to regularly monitor liver and kidney function during medication for middle-aged and elderly patients. If persistent headaches, edema, or abnormal urine output occur, timely medical attention should be sought. Women of childbearing age should be aware of the hormone like substances that drugs may contain and should not be used during pregnancy. It is recommended to take continuously for no more than three months, and long-term use requires adjustment of the compatibility plan under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.
