The correct steaming method for frozen dumplings

The frozen dumplings can be directly steamed in cold water. After the water boils, adjust the medium heat to continue steaming for 15-20 minutes. During the steaming process, attention should be paid to avoiding steam burns, preventing dumpling adhesion, avoiding the need to flip halfway, controlling the heat evenly, and removing it promptly after steaming.

When steaming frozen dumplings, using cold water on top of the pot can allow the dumpling skin to thaw evenly as the water temperature rises, avoiding direct cracking of the outer skin caused by high temperature steam. The bottom of the steamer can be padded with steamed cloth or brushed with thin oil to prevent sticking to the bottom. After the water boils, adjust it to medium heat to maintain a stable steam volume. Excessive heat will make the dumpling skin bubble. Meat filled dumplings need to be steamed for a longer period of time to ensure that the center is fully cooked, while vegetarian filled dumplings can be steamed for a shorter period of time to keep the vegetables crispy and tender. During the steaming process, do not frequently open the lid for inspection to avoid sudden temperature drops that may affect the taste. If using a microwave to thaw before steaming, the dumplings should be placed separately to prevent sticking. The steaming time after thawing can be shortened to 8-10 minutes. Dumplings that have been frozen for more than a month may have dry and cracked dough. A small amount of water mist can be sprayed on the surface before steaming. Special fillings such as seafood need to be fully steamed, and toothpicks can be inserted to test the temperature at the center. Steamed dumplings should be immediately taken out and spread out, as stacking can cause damage to the skin. Steamed dumplings can be paired with dipping sauces such as vinegar and chili oil to enhance their flavor, but hypertensive patients should control their sodium intake. The remaining dumplings should be refrigerated and stored for no more than 24 hours, and should be thoroughly heated before consumption. When choosing dumplings, priority should be given to purchasing frozen dumplings produced by reputable manufacturers. For homemade frozen dumplings, it is recommended to consume them within a month to ensure the best taste. Regular descaling of steaming utensils can prevent scale from affecting the taste of food, and using a bamboo steamer can give dumplings a special aroma.
