Upper arm muscle strain can be treated through rest, ice compress, pressure bandaging, medication, physical therapy, rehabilitation training, and other methods. Upper arm muscle strains are usually caused by sports injuries, overuse of muscles, external impact, insufficient warm-up, posture errors, and other reasons.
1. Rest and apply ice packs

Severe swelling can be treated with anti-inflammatory drugs such as Mai Zhi Ling tablets, while muscle spasms can be treated with Iprison hydrochloride tablets. After the acute phase, physical therapy such as ultrasound and infrared can be used to promote blood circulation. Shock wave therapy has a significant effect on chronic injuries, and electrotherapy can help relax spasming muscles. A suitable plan needs to be selected after evaluation by a professional rehabilitation therapist.
5. Rehabilitation Training
After pain relief, gradually perform low-intensity training such as shoulder joint rotation and elastic band resistance. During the recovery period, strength exercises such as dumbbell bending and wall pushing push ups should be added, and the training intensity should follow the principle of painlessness. Yoga ball stability training can enhance neuromuscular control. During the recovery period, maintain sufficient intake of high-quality protein and supplement with appropriate amounts of vitamin C and calcium. During sleep, use a pillow to elevate the affected limb to reduce swelling and avoid lifting heavy objects or sudden forceful movements. If there is no relief or abnormal noise within two weeks, timely follow-up is required. Chronic injury patients can receive regular sports medicine evaluations. In the later stage of rehabilitation, combined with low impact exercises such as swimming, gradually restore function.
