Female moxibustion on the stomach has the effects of warming meridians, dispelling cold, regulating qi and blood, relieving dysmenorrhea, improving uterine coldness, and enhancing immunity. Moxibustion can improve abdominal blood circulation, regulate endocrine function, and have an auxiliary regulatory effect on gynecological problems through the dual effects of heat and medication.
1. Warm meridians and dispel coldness
The warm effect produced by moxibustion can penetrate deep into the meridians and dispel the coldness and dampness in the uterus and abdomen. For cold constitution symptoms such as cold hands and feet, and lower abdominal pain, moxibustion at abdominal acupoints such as Guanyuan and Qihai can promote local capillary dilation and accelerate the excretion of metabolic waste. Menstrual delay or darkening caused by cold coagulation and blood stasis, sticking to moxibustion can help smooth the discharge of menstrual blood.
2. Regulating Qi and Blood
The volatile oil components of Artemisia argyi can stimulate acupoints and regulate the circulation of Qi and blood in the Ren and Chong meridians through skin penetration. The lack of qi and blood can lead to menstrual fatigue and pale complexion. Moxibustion of Zhongwan point combined with Shenque point can enhance the function of spleen and stomach circulation, promote the transformation of water, grain, essence and micro into qi and blood. Women with postpartum qi and blood deficiency can accelerate their physical recovery through moxibustion under the guidance of professional physicians.
III. Relieve Dysmenorrhea
Moxibustion has a significant relieving effect on primary dysmenorrhea, and its analgesic mechanism is related to promoting the release of endorphins. Starting moxibustion on the Sanyinjiao and uterine acupoints one week before menstruation for 15-20 minutes each time can relax uterine smooth muscle spasms. For secondary dysmenorrhea caused by endometriosis, moxibustion can be used as an auxiliary method in combination with medication treatment.
Fourth, improve uterine coldness
Long term uterine coldness can lead to problems such as infertility and habitual miscarriage. Moxibustion of the Mingmen and Baliao acupoints can increase the temperature of the uterus and improve ovarian function. Clinical observations have shown that when used in conjunction with Ai Fu Nuan Gong Wan, it can enhance the quality of follicular development. Pregnant women are advised to develop a moxibustion plan after the doctor's diagnosis and treatment.
Fifth, enhance immunity
Eucalyptol and other components in Artemisia argyi have antibacterial and antiviral effects, and regular moxibustion can activate the activity of abdominal immune cells. Moxibustion of Zusanli and abdominal acupoints in menopausal women can regulate the function of the hypothalamic pituitary ovarian axis, alleviate symptoms of perimenopausal syndrome such as hot flashes and night sweats.
It is recommended to choose moxa sticks made from three-year-old aged moxa for moxibustion treatment to avoid using inferior moxa velvet that can cause skin burns. For those with excessive menstrual flow, abdominal moxibustion should be temporarily suspended, and caution should be exercised when using it for those with yin deficiency and excessive fire constitution. Pay attention to keeping warm before and after moxibustion, and drink warm water to promote metabolism. The duration of each moxibustion treatment should be controlled within 30 minutes, preferably 2-3 times a week, and long-term adherence will have a more significant effect. If discomfort such as thirst or dizziness occurs, the operation should be stopped immediately.
