Steamed eggs with shells in a few minutes

Shell eggs can be fully cooked by steaming for 8-10 minutes, depending on factors such as egg size, heat, and sealing of the pot. insufficient steaming time may cause the egg yolk to not solidify, posing a risk of Salmonella contamination; If the time is too long, it will cause excessive coagulation of proteins, resulting in a harder texture and loss of nutrients. When using cold water in a pot, start timing more accurately after the water boils, and maintain stable steam on low to medium heat. If eggs are taken out of the refrigerator and steamed directly, it is recommended to extend the steaming time by 1-2 minutes. Gently poke the egg yolk with chopsticks, and if there is no liquid seeping out, it indicates that it is fully cooked. At this point, the egg yolk appears golden yellow and has a delicate texture. In special circumstances such as using an egg steamer or pressure cooker, the time can be shortened to 5-6 minutes. Due to the decrease in boiling point in high-altitude areas, the steaming time needs to be appropriately extended. Soft boiled egg enthusiasts can control the time to 6-7 minutes, but pregnant women, children, and immunocompromised individuals should ensure that they are fully cooked. During the process of steaming eggs, keep the lid tightly sealed to avoid frequent opening and observation, which may affect the steam temperature.

When steaming eggs, you can pair them with a little white vinegar or salt to prevent eggshell damage. Once cooked, soak them in cold water immediately for easy peeling. It is recommended to choose fresh eggs. Eggs stored for more than a week should have an enlarged air chamber, which may cause bursting during steaming. Daily consumption can be combined with vegetables and fruits to supplement vitamin C and promote iron absorption, avoiding consumption with strong tea that affects protein digestion. Pay attention to whether there are cracks or odors in the eggs. Even steamed eggs that have gone bad are not suitable for consumption.
