Should white vinegar or aged vinegar be used for indoor vinegar fumigation

It is generally recommended to use white vinegar for indoor fumigation and disinfection. White vinegar has a higher concentration of acetic acid and a lighter odor, making it more suitable for use in enclosed spaces; Aged vinegar containing caramel coloring may leave stains, and its strong odor may irritate the respiratory tract. The main components of white vinegar are water and acetic acid. After volatilization, it can inhibit the growth of some bacteria and viruses in the air to a certain extent. Its colorless property does not contaminate wall furniture, and the odor dissipates quickly without affecting normal life. Choose to brew white vinegar instead of blended products, as the acetic acid content must exceed 5% to have a certain antibacterial effect. Dilute at a ratio of 5-10 milliliters per cubic meter of space during fumigation, close doors and windows for 30 minutes, and ventilate.

Aged vinegar contains a large amount of amino acids and sugars, and high-temperature fumigation can easily produce viscous residues. Long term use may cause furniture surfaces to become sticky. Caramel pigments may penetrate into porous walls, and the strong soy sauce flavor may cause discomfort such as coughing. If only aged vinegar needs to be used, it is recommended to dilute it more than three times and shorten the fumigation time to 15 minutes. After use, wipe the surface promptly.

Vinegar fumigation disinfection cannot replace professional disinfectants and has limited effectiveness in inactivating pathogens such as coronaviruses. Daily prevention should prioritize maintaining ventilation and treating high-frequency contact areas with 75% alcohol or chlorine containing disinfectants. Vinegar fumigation can be used as an auxiliary during special periods, but it should be avoided for people with allergies and infants in their rooms. Regularly clean the humidifier water tank to prevent secondary pollution caused by acetic acid corrosion of metal parts.
