Should tea be stored in the refrigerator or outside

The storage method of tea should be determined according to the type of tea. Green tea, fragrant oolong tea, etc. are recommended to be refrigerated, while black tea, black tea, Pu erh ripe tea, etc. are suitable for storage at room temperature and away from light. Green tea and light aroma oolong tea contain a high amount of unsaturated fatty acids and chlorophyll, and are prone to oxidation and deterioration at room temperature. The low-temperature environment of the refrigerator can significantly slow down the oxidation rate of tea. When storing, it is necessary to seal it with aluminum foil bags or tin cans to avoid adsorbing odors. The refrigeration temperature should be controlled between 0-5 degrees Celsius. After removal, it should be allowed to stand at room temperature before opening to prevent condensation from getting damp. This type of tea can maintain a fresh and refreshing flavor for about 12 months when refrigerated, and the flavor decay is significantly accelerated when stored at room temperature.

Fully fermented teas such as black tea and black tea have stable chemical properties, and storage at room temperature in the dark is more conducive to later transformation. Storing in purple clay or pottery jars can provide moderate ventilation and promote the formation of sweet and mellow substances in black tea. Pu'er cooked tea should be kept away from camphor, perfume and other odor sources. It is recommended to keep the humidity of the storage environment at about 60%. Excessive drying will lead to tea inactivation. This type of tea can be stored for many years in a cool and ventilated place, but refrigeration can actually inhibit the activity of beneficial bacteria, leading to aging stagnation. Regardless of the storage method used, tea containers must be sealed to prevent moisture and avoid direct sunlight. Regularly check the condition of the tea leaves, and discard them immediately if there is mold or obvious odor. The storage strategy can be adjusted in different seasons. In areas with high temperature and humidity in summer, black tea can be refrigerated for a short period of time to prevent moisture. In winter, green tea should be kept moist in dry environments in the north. Only by selecting scientific storage methods based on the characteristics of tea can the freshness and flavor of the tea soup be maximally preserved.
