Should grapes be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature

Grapes are recommended to be refrigerated during high temperatures in summer, and can be stored at room temperature in spring and autumn when the room temperature is below 25 ℃. The preservation method of grapes is mainly affected by factors such as temperature, humidity, maturity, storage time, and skin integrity.

Grapes have high sugar content and thin skin that is prone to decay. refrigeration can effectively inhibit bacterial growth and extend the shelf life to 3-5 days. Before refrigeration, wrap it in kitchen paper and put it in a breathable plastic bag to avoid frosting or squeezing. Immature green grapes are suitable for being stored at room temperature for 1-2 days to promote sugar conversion, but they should be avoided from direct sunlight and consumed as soon as possible. The cleaned grapes must be refrigerated as residual moisture can accelerate mold growth. Grapes stored at room temperature should be placed in a cool and ventilated place, as temperatures above 28 ℃ are prone to fermentation and spoilage. Storing whole strings with stems is more durable than storing loose grains, and the stems can delay water loss. If individual rotten fruits are found, they need to be immediately removed as mold will spread rapidly. For short-term storage, food grade sealed boxes can be used with absorbent paper to maintain a dry environment.

Regardless of refrigeration or room temperature storage, it is recommended to consume within 3 days after purchase. When cleaning, keep the fruit stem to reduce the wound, and rinse with running water before consumption. gastrointestinal sensitive people should avoid eating iced grapes on an empty stomach, and diabetes patients should control their single intake. Storing fruits with low ethylene release, such as apples and bananas, can reduce the risk of overripe.
