Litchi can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days

Litchi can generally be stored in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. The preservation time of lychee is related to factors such as maturity, storage method, and refrigerator temperature. Litchi is a tropical fruit, so it is important to avoid water loss and low-temperature frostbite when refrigerating. Put fresh lychee into a fresh-keeping bag or sealed box, keep the fruit stem and pad it with absorbent paper to slow down oxidation and mold growth. It is recommended to set the refrigerator temperature at 4-8 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is too low, it will cause the skin to turn black and the taste of the fruit flesh to deteriorate. If brown spots are found on the fruit shell or the flesh is soft and watery, it indicates that it has deteriorated and is not suitable for consumption. Some partially immature lychees may be refrigerated for up to 7 days, but their flavor will gradually decrease. If long-term storage is required, the fruit shell and core can be removed and frozen, but the taste will become softer after thawing. The sugar content of litchi is high, and the sweetness is more obvious after refrigeration, but diabetes patients need to control their intake. It is recommended to consume no more than 10 pills per day to avoid overheating or blood sugar fluctuations.

When storing lychees, avoid mixing them with strongly scented foods to prevent cross contamination. Before consumption, it can be soaked in diluted salt water for sterilization. For those with gastrointestinal sensitivity, it is recommended to remove the inner membrane to reduce irritation. If there is a smell of alcohol or mucus during storage, it indicates that it has fermented and deteriorated, and must be discarded immediately. It is recommended to consume lychee as soon as possible during high temperatures in summer. Litchi that has been refrigerated for more than 3 days should be carefully checked for freshness before consumption.
