Jackfruit can be kept for several days after being peeled

The peeled jackfruit can be stored for about 1 day at room temperature, and 3-5 days at cold storage. The storage time is affected by factors such as maturity, storage temperature, and sealing degree.

The pulp of jackfruit has high sugar content and sufficient water, which is easy to breed bacteria and cause deterioration under normal temperature. If the room temperature exceeds 25 degrees Celsius, the flesh may develop a fermented flavor or mucus within 12 hours. When refrigerating, it is necessary to tightly wrap the incision with plastic wrap to avoid mixing with other foods. The flavor change is minimal within 3 days of refrigeration, and local softening may occur after 5 days. Freezing storage can be extended for up to one month, but the texture of the fruit pulp will become soft and crumbly after thawing, making it suitable for making desserts or juices.

Due to the low enzyme activity of immature jackfruit, the cold storage time can be extended to 7 days, but the pulp status needs to be checked daily. If the flesh color darkens, emits alcohol odor, or has mold spots on the surface, it should be discarded immediately. Suggest packaging and storing according to the amount of food consumed to reduce the quality degradation caused by repeated thawing.

Avoid using metal containers when storing jackfruit, because the acid may cause oxidation reaction. Before consumption, observe whether the fruit pulp maintains a golden luster. It is best to lightly press the elastic one. Wash and cook the fruit kernels in daily life, which are rich in starch and dietary fiber. If long-term storage is required, it is recommended to make jackfruit or jam, and extend the shelf life to more than 6 months through high-temperature sterilization.
