Shoulder periarthritis can be treated through hot compress therapy, massage, acupuncture therapy, medication therapy, functional exercise, and other methods. Shoulder periarthritis is usually caused by shoulder strain, invasion of wind cold dampness, stagnation of qi and blood, deficiency of liver and kidney, trauma and other factors.
1. Hot compress therapy
uses moxibustion or traditional Chinese medicine hot compress to apply to the affected area, which can warm the meridians, dispel cold, and promote local blood circulation. It is recommended to use moxa sticks for hanging moxibustion on the shoulder and hip points, shoulder and Zhen points, etc., once a day. Combined with Qianghuo Shengshi Tang to reduce smoking and washing, the effect is better. Cold dampness type patients can use medicinal herbs such as Chuanwu and Caowu to make medicine packages for hot ironing.
2. Massage
Use techniques such as rolling and kneading to release shoulder joint adhesions, combined with acupoints such as Tianzong and Jianjing. Mild techniques should be used to relieve pain in the acute phase, and joint mobilization surgery can be strengthened in the chronic phase. It is recommended to have a professional physician perform the procedure to avoid aggravating the injury through violent means.
3. Acupuncture therapy
Select distal acupoints such as Tiaokou Tongchengshan and Yanglingquan, combined with local Ashi acupoints, and use the technique of tonifying and purging. It can be used in combination with electroacupuncture stimulation or warm acupuncture and moxibustion and has obvious loosening effect on frozen shoulder. Acupuncture treatment requires the operation of a licensed traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, with 10 sessions constituting one course of treatment.
4. Drug treatment
In the acute phase, traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations such as Huoxue Zhitong Capsule and Biqi Capsule can be used according to the doctor's advice, or Xueshan Golden Arhat Pain Relieving Paint can be used externally. The wind cold type can be treated with Guizhi and Gegen decoction, while the blood stasis type can be treated with Shengtong Zhuyu decoction. Western medicine can be combined with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets in the short term.
5. Functional exercise
recommends rehabilitation training such as wall climbing and pendulum exercises to gradually increase activity. It can be combined with the Eight Section Brocade "Two Hands Support the Heavenly Principle and Three Jiao" technique for exercise, 3 groups per day, 10 times per group. Exercise with mild pain to avoid secondary injuries caused by excessive stretching. During treatment, pay attention to keeping your shoulders warm and avoid lifting heavy objects and overexertion. Maintain a relaxed position on the affected shoulder during sleep and use a soft pillow for support. Diet should be warm and nourishing, with moderate consumption of lamb, ginger, and other warm foods. Avoid raw and cold foods. If conservative treatment is ineffective for 3 months or muscle atrophy occurs, joint cavity injection or needle knife release treatment should be considered.
