If you buy too many mushrooms, you can store them through methods such as refrigeration, freezing, drying, pickling, and vacuum sealing.
1. Refrigerate storage
Fresh mushrooms can be stored in a paper bag or breathable container in the refrigerator compartment for 3-5 days. Be careful not to clean or cut into pieces, keeping the surface dry can delay decay. If the surface of the mushroom becomes sticky or discolored, it should be discarded immediately.
2. Cryopreservation
Cut the mushrooms into slices or pieces, blanch them in water for 1-2 minutes, drain the water, and then lay them flat and freeze. Frozen mushrooms can be stored for 8-12 months and are suitable for subsequent stewing or stir frying. However, the taste will become soft after thawing and it is not recommended to eat raw.
3. Dry storage
Slice the mushrooms and place them in a dryer or a well ventilated place to dry. After complete dehydration, put them into a sealed jar. Dried mushrooms can be stored for 6-12 months and should be soaked and restored before use. They are suitable for making soups or sauces.
4. Pickling and preservation
Marinating mushrooms with salt water, vinegar, or soy sauce can extend their shelf life by 1-3 months. The pickled mushrooms have a unique flavor and can be eaten directly as a side dish. Attention should be paid to controlling salt intake, and hypertensive patients should consume with caution.
5. Vacuum sealing
Using a vacuum machine to remove air from the packaging, it can be kept fresh for 7-10 days under refrigeration conditions. Vacuum sealing can effectively inhibit microbial growth and is suitable for short-term storage of large quantities of mushrooms, but it is necessary to ensure that the packaging is intact and leak free.
Different storage methods can affect the taste and nutrition of mushrooms. It is recommended to choose the appropriate method according to the consumption plan. Fresh mushrooms are rich in protein, vitamin D, and minerals. During storage, repeated thawing or exposure to high temperatures should be avoided. Mushrooms that have already developed an odor, become sticky, or moldy must be discarded and not consumed. In daily diet, it can be balanced with other vegetables to fully utilize the health benefits of mushrooms in enhancing immunity and regulating intestinal function.
