How to store melon seeds and peanuts for a long time

The key to long-term preservation of melon seeds and peanuts lies in moisture resistance, oxidation resistance, and insect infestation prevention. Methods such as sealed refrigeration, desiccant assistance, vacuum packaging, dark storage, and regular inspection can be used.

1. Sealed refrigeration

Place melon seeds and peanuts in a food grade sealed jar or fresh-keeping bag, exhaust the air, and place them in the refrigeration layer of the refrigerator. Low temperature can effectively delay fat oxidation, and the refrigeration temperature should be controlled between 0-5 degrees Celsius. 4. Avoid light storage

Choose opaque ceramic jars or light shielded storage boxes to store, avoiding direct sunlight that can cause oil and grease to spoil. The storage environment humidity should be below 60%, and it can be stored in the same cabinet as moisture absorbing ingredients such as rice and tea, but it needs to be physically isolated to prevent cross contamination.

5. Regular Inspection

Monthly opening inspection to check for any halitosis, mold, or insect infestation. Slightly damp, it can be baked in a 150 degree oven for 10 minutes to restore its crispness. If mold appears, the entire batch should be discarded. It is recommended to shorten the inspection cycle to once every two weeks in summer.
