How to store grapes if you can't finish them

Grapes that cannot be eaten can be stored or processed by refrigeration. Specific methods include refrigeration preservation, freezing preservation, making jam, drying into raisins, and making wine.

1. Refrigerate and preserve

Wrap fresh grapes in kitchen paper and place them in a fresh-keeping bag. Remove the air from the bag and seal it tightly. Place them in the vegetable and fruit compartment of the refrigerator. The refrigeration temperature should be controlled at 0-4 degrees Celsius to store for 5-7 days. Be careful not to mix with other strongly scented foods. If individual grapes are found to have spoiled, they should be taken out immediately to prevent the spread of mold.

2. Cryopreservation

Wash and dry grapes can be directly placed in sealed bags for freezing, and the taste of the frozen grapes is closer to that of smoothies. After removing the seeds, it can be used to make ice drinks or dessert ingredients, and can be frozen for up to 3 months. It should be noted that freezing can increase the toughness of the fruit skin. After thawing, it is suitable to crush and eat instead of whole pieces.

3. Making jam

Peel and remove the seeds from the grapes, then add sugar and boil. Lemon juice can help solidify and preserve the fruit. Boil until thick, then bottle and seal while hot. Keep unopened jam at room temperature for 6 months. After opening, refrigerate and consume within two weeks. Rosemary or cinnamon can be added to enhance the flavor level during production.

4. Drying raisins

Select seedless grapes, wash them, boil them in boiling water for 10 seconds, lay them flat on a drying net and air dry them in a ventilated place. At night, they should be collected to prevent dew. Modern households can use an oven to circulate hot air at 60 degrees Celsius for 8 hours, flipping it halfway until it is completely dehydrated. Completely dry raisins can be stored in a sealed container for up to 1 year and should be regularly checked for moisture regain.

5. Home Brewing

Crush the grapes and mix them with white sugar in a disinfected container according to the ratio, and ferment at 25 degrees Celsius for 15 days. The filtered liquor needs to undergo secondary fermentation and be stored away from light, and the best flavor can be achieved after 3 months. The alcohol content of homemade wine is about 12 degrees, and attention should be paid to the production of carbon dioxide during the fermentation process, which requires the use of a dedicated breathable sealed container.

When storing grapes, it is recommended to choose the appropriate method according to the consumption plan. For short-term consumption, refrigeration is recommended, and for long-term storage, processing is recommended. Regardless of the method used, damaged fruits must be removed before operation, and all containers must be strictly disinfected. Before consumption, pay attention to whether there is any mold or taste change. For those with gastrointestinal sensitivity, it is recommended to heat thoroughly before consumption. It can be used with yogurt, oats and other ingredients to enrich nutrition intake, but diabetes patients need to control the intake of grape products.
