Fresh mushrooms can be stored for a long time through methods such as refrigeration, freezing, drying, vacuum packaging, and salting. Different storage methods are suitable for different consumption needs, and choosing the appropriate method can extend the shelf life and preserve nutrients.
1. Refrigerate
Wrap fresh mushrooms in kitchen paper and put them in a fresh-keeping box. Refrigerate for 3-5 days. Pay attention to keeping it dry and avoiding mold growth. Do not wash with water before refrigeration, and wash again before consumption. Common varieties such as Agaricus bisporus are suitable for this method. If the surface is sticky, it should be discarded immediately.
2. Freezing
Blanch the sliced mushrooms in water for 1 minute, then drain them and pack them into sealed bags for 3 months of storage. 3. Drying
Mushrooms and other mushrooms can be dried by sun exposure or dehydration in a dryer. After complete drying, they can be sealed and stored in a cool place with a shelf life of up to 1 year. Before use, it needs to be soaked in cold water to restore its original flavor. Dried mushrooms have a more concentrated and flavorful substance, making them suitable for making soup or braised dishes.
4. Vacuum Packaging
Fresh mushrooms can be preserved for 7-10 days by vacuum pumping and refrigeration. This method can effectively isolate oxygen and inhibit spoilage. Suitable for commercial transportation or short-term storage of whole mushrooms, please consume them as soon as possible after opening.
5. Salinization
Soak mushrooms in 10% saline solution, sterilize and seal, and store for more than 6 months. Before eating, it is necessary to rinse and desalt the mushrooms. Salinization will make the mushrooms tough and suitable for making Pickled vegetables or seasoning ingredients. This method is suitable for varieties with high moisture content such as shiitake mushrooms.
The preservation method of mushrooms should be selected according to the characteristics of the variety. Regardless of which method is used, the container should be kept clean and the condition should be checked regularly. It is recommended to dispose of it as soon as possible after purchase to avoid nutrient loss caused by prolonged storage. Mushrooms that have developed unpleasant odors, discoloration, or stickiness should be discarded and should not be consumed again. Silicone desiccant can be used in daily life to assist in moisture prevention, and the date should be marked when storing frozen to avoid exceeding the expiration date. Special varieties such as Boletus edulis are recommended to be professionally dried, and the edibility of wild mushrooms should be confirmed before storage.
