The smell of durian in the refrigerator can be removed through ventilation, activated carbon adsorption, lemon deodorization, baking soda cleaning, coffee grounds neutralization, and other methods. The odor of durian mainly comes from sulfur-containing compounds, which are highly volatile and easily adhere to the inner walls of refrigerators, requiring targeted treatment.

1. Ventilation and deodorization
Turn off the power and empty the refrigerator, then open the cabinet door and continue to ventilate for more than 6 hours. Flowing air can accelerate the volatilization of sulfides, especially suitable for residual odors in plastic barriers. An electric fan can be placed during ventilation to enhance convection, but direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent the refrigerator seal from aging.
2. Activated carbon adsorption
Take 200 grams of food grade activated carbon and pack it into gauze bags, placing them on each layer and door frame of the refrigerator. The porous structure of activated carbon can adsorb sulfide molecules and can be reused after 48 hours of exposure to sunlight for 4 hours. Be careful not to let activated carbon come into contact with food or water stains.
3. Lemon decomposition
Fresh lemon slices are spread flat on a plate and placed in the refrigerator. Fruit acid can undergo esterification reaction with sulfides. Replace the lemon slices every 8 hours and continuously use the residual odor from the gaps of the biodegradable rubber sealing strip. This method has limited effectiveness for the freezer.

4. Baking Soda Cleaning
Use 50 grams of baking soda mixed with 500 milliliters of warm water to scrub the inner walls and sealing strips, with a focus on the grooves of the egg rack and vegetable box. Baking soda's alkaline components can neutralize acidic odor molecules, and after cleaning, it should be wiped clean with a dry cloth to avoid clumping.
5. Neutralization of coffee grounds
Put the dried coffee grounds into an open container and place it in the refrigerator. Coffee polyphenols can encapsulate odor molecules. Every 100 grams of coffee grounds effectively covers 0.5 cubic meters of space and needs to be replaced after 72 hours. The use of the freezer needs to be extended to 5 days. After processing, it is recommended to disinfect the inside of the refrigerator with 75% alcohol to avoid bacterial growth and worsening odors. When storing durians in daily life, they should be wrapped in three layers of plastic wrap and placed in a sealed box. Freezing storage can reduce odor volatilization. Regularly cleaning expired food and cleaning the refrigerator with white vinegar steam every month can effectively prevent the accumulation of odors. If the odor persists for more than a week, it is necessary to check whether the drainage holes are blocked, which may cause mold growth.
