Swelling after facial filling can be relieved by cold compress, medication to reduce swelling, lifting the head, avoiding vigorous activity, and adjusting diet. Swelling is usually caused by traumatic edema, local inflammatory response, obstruction of lymphatic return, stimulation of filling materials, improper postoperative care, and other reasons.

1. Cold compress
Within 48 hours after surgery, use an ice pack wrapped in a towel to apply cold compress, 15-20 minutes each time, and repeat every hour. Low temperature can constrict blood vessels, reduce exudation, alleviate swelling and bruising. Avoid direct contact between ice packs and the skin, which can cause frostbite. Gentle pressure during cold compress can help promote lymphatic return. If there is abnormal pain or skin discoloration in the filling area, it should be stopped immediately.
2. Drug detumescence
Use Diosmin Tablets, Maizhiling Tablets and other drugs to improve microcirculation according to the doctor's advice, or apply sodium aescinate gel externally for detumescence. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as celecoxib capsules can reduce inflammatory swelling, but drugs that affect coagulation function such as aspirin should be avoided. Hyaluronidase for injection can be used for swelling degradation caused by excessive hyaluronic acid filling.
3. Raise the head
During sleep, elevate the head by more than 30 degrees and keep the head and face above the heart. Utilize gravity to promote venous and lymphatic reflux and reduce tissue fluid accumulation. During the day, avoid playing with your phone or working at a desk for long periods of time. Instead, do a gentle facial massage every 2 hours, pushing gently from the filling center towards the back of your ear.

4. Avoid strenuous activities
Within one week after surgery, avoid running, yoga, and other exercises that accelerate blood circulation to prevent filler displacement or worsening swelling. Avoid hot stimulation such as saunas and high-temperature baths, and reduce frequent facial expression muscle activity. Makeup should be done after 3 days. When removing makeup, move gently to avoid rubbing the filling area.
5. Dietary regulation
Increase the intake of water beneficial foods such as winter melon and red beans, and limit daily salt intake to no more than 5 grams. supplementing with vitamin C tablets promotes wound repair and avoids inflammatory reactions induced by spicy and stimulating foods. Within 3 days after surgery, alcohol consumption is prohibited as it can dilate blood vessels and worsen swelling. Moderate consumption of beverages such as corn silk tea with diuretic effects is recommended. The peak period of postoperative swelling usually occurs within 24-72 hours, and most gradually subsides within 1-2 weeks. If accompanied by persistent fever, severe pain, darkened skin, or other abnormal conditions, seek medical attention immediately. During the recovery period, keep the wound clean and dry, avoid kneading the filling area, and strictly follow the doctor's advice for follow-up appointments. Choosing legitimate medical institutions and professional doctors can effectively reduce the risk of complications, and postoperative repair courses can improve the final effect.
