The peeled peanuts can be sealed and refrigerated or frozen for storage. Specific methods include sealed bag refrigeration, vacuum packaging, frozen storage, desiccant moisture-proof, and dark and cool storage.
1. Sealed bag refrigeration
Put peanuts into a food grade sealed bag, vent the air, tie the bag tightly, and place it in the refrigerator compartment. The refrigeration temperature can delay the oxidation of oils and fats, and the storage time can reach about one month. Be careful to avoid mixing with strongly scented food to prevent cross contamination.
2. Vacuum Packaging
Using a vacuum machine to remove air from the packaging, isolate oxygen and moisture, can significantly extend the shelf life. Vacuum packaged peanuts can be stored for three months in a cool environment, and can be extended to six months under refrigeration conditions. Before packaging, ensure that the peanuts are completely dry.
3. Freeze preservation
Divide into small portions and place them in a specialized sealed box for freezing, then place them in a freezer at minus 18 degrees Celsius. Freezing can effectively inhibit the growth of mold, and the shelf life can reach up to one year. Thaw naturally at room temperature before consumption to avoid repeated freezing and thawing that can damage the taste.
4. Moisture proof desiccant
Place food grade desiccant at the bottom of the storage container, then lay kitchen paper to isolate it, and put peanuts on top. This method is suitable for short-term storage at room temperature. It is necessary to check the condition of the desiccant every week and replace it promptly if it becomes damp.
5. Store in a dark and cool place
Choose a non transparent ceramic jar or iron box and store in a ventilated and cool place. Light and high temperature can accelerate fat spoilage, and the ideal storage temperature should be below 20 degrees. This method is suitable for consuming a small amount of peanuts within two weeks.
During the storage process, it is necessary to regularly check the condition of the peanuts. If there is a rancid taste, mold or softening, they should be discarded immediately. Suggest packaging and storing according to the amount of food consumed to reduce the number of times it is opened. Before consumption, it can be baked at 150 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes to restore its crispness, but spoiled peanuts cannot be further processed for consumption. Peanuts are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, and proper storage can maximize the preservation of nutritional value and flavor.
