How to preserve peeled oranges

Peel oranges can be stored refrigerated or frozen, depending on the consumption time and taste requirements. Oranges are prone to oxidation and dehydration after being peeled off. When storing them in a refrigerated environment, wrap the flesh with plastic wrap to isolate it from the air and put it in a sealed box to slow down moisture loss. It can be stored for 1-2 days in a refrigerated environment. If you need to extend the storage time, you can lay the orange slices flat on a tray and freeze for 2 hours before transferring them to a sealed bag. They can be stored for 1 month in a frozen state and are suitable for making juice or desserts after thawing. It should be noted that freezing can cause the flesh to soften, resulting in poor taste when consumed directly.

For short-term storage, it is recommended to prioritize refrigeration to preserve more fresh fruit flavors. Regardless of the method used, the orange and white fascia should be removed before preservation, as these parts will accelerate decay. Check for mold or odor before consumption, and discard any spoiled orange slices. Daily recommendation is to peel and eat immediately. The intact orange peel can effectively protect the freshness of the fruit pulp. Unpeeled oranges can be stored at room temperature and in a well ventilated place for 3-5 days.
