How to preserve fresh Xiaomi chili

Spicy millet can be preserved fresh through methods such as refrigeration, freezing, sun drying, soaking, and vacuum sealing. The choice of storage method mainly depends on the frequency of use and storage time requirements.

1. Refrigerate

Wash and dry fresh chili peppers, put them in a fresh-keeping bag, remove the air, and place them in the refrigerator compartment. The refrigeration temperature should be controlled at 4-8 degrees Celsius to store for 7-10 days. Be careful to avoid contact with other strongly scented foods to prevent cross contamination. refrigerated chili peppers can maintain their original color and crispy texture, making them suitable for short-term use.

2. Freezing

Wash and dry the chili peppers, then put them directly into a sealed bag for freezing, which can be stored for 3-6 months. Before freezing, it can be stored whole or cut into sections for processing, and can be cooked directly without thawing during use. Freezing can alter the texture of chili peppers, making them more suitable for cooking methods that require heating, such as stir frying and stewing. Freezing preservation can maximize the preservation of the spicy flavor of chili peppers.

3. Sun drying

Select intact and undamaged millet chili, string it with cotton thread and hang it in a ventilated and dry place to dry. On sunny days, it can be completely dehydrated in 3-5 days. After drying, it can be stored in a sealed container at room temperature for more than 1 year. Dried chili peppers need to be soaked in warm water for recovery before use, suitable for making chili powder, chili oil and other seasonings. During the sun drying process, attention should be paid to moisture and mold prevention, and regular flipping should be carried out to ensure even drying.

4. Soaked

millet chili is put into a sterilized glass bottle after being washed and dried, and then poured into a highly Baijiu or rice vinegar without chilli. After being sealed, it can be stored in a cool place for more than 6 months. Soaked chili peppers will gradually soften and have a strong sour and spicy flavor, making them suitable as a side dish. During the brewing process, it is important to ensure that the containers and tools are clean to avoid contamination by bacteria that may cause spoilage.

5. Vacuum sealing

Using a household vacuum machine to seal millet chili in a special bag, removing air and refrigerating can extend the shelf life to about one month. Vacuum packaging can effectively block oxygen, slow down oxidation and microbial growth. This method is suitable for situations where the storage capacity is large and requires a long period of preservation. After opening, it should be consumed as soon as possible.

When storing chili peppers, it is important to choose fresh, intact, and non rotten fruits. Different storage methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. Refrigeration is suitable for short-term preservation, freezing can preserve for a long time but change the texture, sun drying and soaking are suitable for making seasonings, and vacuum sealing is suitable for batch storage. Regardless of the method used, it is important to keep the container clean and dry, and regularly check for signs of deterioration. If mold or odor is found during storage, it should be discarded immediately to avoid consuming and affecting health. Reasonably storing chili peppers not only extends their shelf life, but also allows you to enjoy the deliciousness of chili peppers in different seasons.
