How to peel mangoes easily

The simplest method for peeling mangoes is to use a knife to assist in peeling, mainly including cup edge scraping method, cross cutting method, half cutting method, pulp separation method, and spoon scraping method.

1. Cup edge scraping method

Place the mango upright and use a fruit knife to cut the flesh along both sides of the core. Take a glass cup, with the rim of the cup touching the connection between the fruit skin and flesh, slide down to allow the flesh to naturally fall into the cup. This method can quickly separate the flesh and skin of mangoes, making it suitable for mature mangoes. When operating, pay attention to controlling the force to avoid the flesh from breaking.

2. Cross cutting method

Use the tip of the knife to draw a cross shaped grid pattern on the surface of the mango, with a depth suitable for just touching the flesh. Grasp the ends of the mango with both hands and flip it outward. The flesh will appear as a granular protrusion, which can be eaten directly or scraped off with a spoon. This method is suitable for ready to eat scenarios, preserving the original flavor of mangoes, but attention should be paid to the safety of tool use.

3. Half cut method

Cut the mango in half along the longitudinal direction of the fruit core, and use a spoon to scrape the flesh along the inner arc of the skin. This method can fully preserve the hemispherical flesh, making it suitable for making mango desserts or decorating dishes. Choosing a metal spoon with a longer handle is easier to handle, and attention should be paid to cleaning the fibrous tissue around the fruit core during processing.

4. Fruit pulp separation method

Use a peeler to spiral peel off the outer skin from the top of the mango, preserving the intact shape of the fruit. Suitable for varieties with thicker skin, such as Kaite Mang, which can be sliced and eaten directly after peeling. It is recommended to wear anti slip gloves to fix the mango during operation, and the peeling direction should be opposite to the fiber direction to reduce juice loss.

5. Spoon Scraping Method

Place the un peeled mango flesh facing upwards and repeatedly scrape the inside of the skin with a metal spoon to make the flesh soft. Finally, tear open a small opening at the fruit stem and squeeze the skin to allow the puree to flow out from the opening. This method is particularly suitable for making mango juice or baby food supplements, as it can maximize the extraction of fruit pulp.

When choosing mangoes, priority should be given to mature fruits with a golden yellow skin and slightly elastic texture, and a fragrant aroma emanating from the stem. These types of mangoes are easier to peel. Before processing, the mango can be refrigerated for a moment to reduce the stickiness of the flesh. When using knives, be careful to secure the mango to prevent slipping. If peeled mangoes need to be stored, it is recommended to drizzle a small amount of lemon juice to prevent oxidation, and seal and refrigerate for no more than 24 hours. For individuals with allergies, it is recommended to wear gloves during operation to avoid skin contact with the phenolic compounds in mango peel.
