Do you still need to continue exercising when you lose interest in fitness

Whether to continue exercising when feeling bored during exercise depends on the physical condition. If it is only temporary fatigue or insufficient power, adjust the intensity appropriately before continuing; If accompanied by discomfort symptoms such as dizziness and palpitations, exercise should be stopped immediately. The feeling of fatigue during exercise may be a normal physiological phenomenon. After high-intensity training, the muscle glycogen reserves in the human body decrease, and the excitability of the nervous system decreases, leading to temporary fatigue. At this point, aerobic exercise can be changed to low-intensity brisk walking, strength training can reduce weight or group size, combined with deep breathing and appropriate hydration, which can usually relieve fatigue and complete the training plan. Maintaining regular exercise can help improve physical fitness threshold, but in the long run, it can actually reduce fatigue during training.

When fatigue is accompanied by abnormal symptoms, be alert to pathological causes. Symptoms such as unexplained fatigue lasting for more than a week, abnormally increased or slow recovery of heart rate after exercise, and night sweats may be related to overtraining syndrome, anemia, or thyroid dysfunction. Patients with diabetes need to be alert to hypoglycemia due to lack of exercise, and patients with hypertension may have insufficient blood supply. In such cases, exercise should be immediately stopped, the time and specific manifestations of symptoms should be recorded, and medical attention should be sought in a timely manner to investigate potential health problems.

A fitness plan should include reasonable rest periods, with 1-2 days of complete rest per week and a reduction in weekly training every 2-3 months. Perform dynamic stretching and nutritional supplementation before and after exercise, and choose meals that contain carbohydrates and high-quality protein. Use a heart rate band to monitor exercise intensity and maintain 60-70% of maximum heart rate as the optimal fat burning range. If there is a long-term lack of exercise motivation, you can try group classes or outdoor activities to change your mood, but persistent physical discomfort must be prioritized for medical examination.
