Can washing fruits with noodles remove pesticides

Washing fruits with flour can remove some pesticide residues, but the effect is limited. The pesticide residues on the surface of fruits mainly include organophosphates, pyrethroids, etc. The adsorption effect of flour can take away some fat soluble pesticides, but the effect on water-soluble pesticides or systemic pesticides is poor. Thoroughly removing pesticide residues requires methods such as rinsing with running water, peeling, and soaking.

Flour particles have a porous structure and can remove fat soluble pesticides from the surface of fruits through physical adsorption. Experiments have shown that the removal rate of organic phosphorus pesticides such as dichlorvos by flour water solution is about 30%, especially for pesticides attached to the fruit wax layer. This type of pesticide needs to be degraded by peeling or heating, and it is recommended to peel apples and other fruits with skin. Grapes and other small fruit particles can be lightly brushed with flour water and a soft bristled brush to create surface grooves. strawberries and other soft fruits are suitable for short-term soaking to avoid damage. Organic certified fruits usually have lower pesticide residues and relatively better flour cleaning effects.

Daily cleaning of fruits can be initially treated with flour water, and then soaked in baking soda water or washed with rice water. Different types of pesticide residues require targeted treatment methods, and the fruit and vegetable cleaning agents recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture have a decomposing effect on various pesticides. Long term ingestion of pesticide residues may affect the nervous system, and it is recommended that sensitive populations such as children and pregnant women prioritize choosing fruits that have been peeled or organic. It is safer to consume them after thorough cleaning.
