Can milk be heated in a plastic bag

Heating milk in plastic bags poses a safety hazard, and direct heating is usually not recommended. Plastic materials may release harmful substances or undergo deformation and cracking at high temperatures, affecting the quality of milk.

Milk packaging bags are mostly made of polyethylene material, with a heat resistance temperature generally below 90 degrees Celsius. If microwave or boiling water is used for direct heating, local high temperatures may cause plastic decomposition and release chemicals such as plasticizers. Although some food grade plastic bags are labeled as heatable, there is still a risk of uneven heating, and the sealing of bagged milk may be damaged due to pressure changes caused by heating. In special circumstances where heating is required, bagged milk can be poured into a heat-resistant glass or ceramic container and heated in the middle. The water temperature should be controlled at around 60 degrees Celsius. Avoid direct contact with plastic bags with open flames to prevent melting or ignition. Some sterilized dairy products can be stored at room temperature and can be consumed without heating. The taste is better when consumed directly after refrigeration.

It is recommended to choose pre packaged products produced by reputable manufacturers for daily milk consumption, and pay attention to the heating instructions on the packaging. If heating is required for drinking, it is recommended to use a specialized milk pot to heat it separately to the appropriate temperature to avoid nutrient loss. Lactose intolerant individuals can choose low-temperature and slow heating methods to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. When storing, pay attention to avoiding light and moisture, and consume as soon as possible after opening.
