Eyelid laxity can generally be treated with double eyelid surgery, but it needs to be evaluated comprehensively based on the degree of laxity and skin elasticity. Double eyelid surgery mainly includes incision method, buried line method, three-point positioning method, etc. It is recommended to have a professional doctor evaluate and select the appropriate surgical method before surgery. When there is mild eyelid laxity and good skin elasticity, double eyelids can be formed directly through buried line method or three-point positioning method, which has less trauma and faster recovery. If relaxation is accompanied by slight fat protrusion, a small amount of orbital fat can be removed during surgery, but sufficient support should be retained to avoid postoperative depression. The amount of skin removal is usually controlled at 3-5 millimeters to avoid difficulty in closing the eyes due to excessive correction. When there is moderate to severe relaxation or significant upper eyelid ptosis, incision combined with levator muscle shortening surgery should be used for correction. This type of situation requires the removal of excess skin and adjustment of the orbicularis oculi muscle. The surgery time is relatively long, and it takes 1-3 months to restore the natural shape after surgery. Older individuals or those with thin skin may require a combination of fat transplantation to improve sunken eye sockets. Temporary asymmetry may occur in the early postoperative period, mostly gradually improving after swelling subsides.

It is recommended to complete preoperative ophthalmic examination to rule out contraindications such as dry eye syndrome and glaucoma. Keep the wound clean and dry after surgery, avoid rubbing the eyes or vigorous exercise. Continuous redness, swelling, and severe pain during the recovery period require timely follow-up. Daily attention to sun protection can delay skin aging, and moderate massage can promote lymphatic return.
