Tea can be consumed for a day without changing, but it is recommended to change it according to the type of tea and the number of brews. Unfermented teas such as green tea and flower tea usually need to be replaced after brewing 2-3 times, while fermented teas such as Pu erh tea and black tea have strong brewing resistance and can be appropriately extended. Green tea, yellow tea, and other unfermented teas release substances quickly. The first brew can release most of the tea polyphenols and amino acids, but the nutritional content significantly decreases after the second brew. Repeated brewing may lead to a bland tea soup and the growth of microorganisms. Half fermented teas such as oolong tea and black tea have moderate steeping tolerance. After continuous brewing for 4-5 times, the amount of theaflavins increases, the taste becomes astringent, and antioxidant substances decrease. Pu erh ripe tea, aged white tea, and other post fermented teas can be brewed 8-10 times due to their special process. However, prolonged soaking can make the tea soup too thick and increase caffeine intake. Overnight tea or tea leaves soaked for a long time may breed bacteria, and the oxidation of tea polyphenols can form tea rust that adheres to the cup wall. The continuous precipitation of fluoride may exceed the safe intake. Soaking tea leaves in a thermos will accelerate their decay, and it is not recommended to drink tea soup that has been stored in high temperature environments for more than 6 hours in summer. People with weak gastrointestinal function who drink tea for a long time may experience discomfort.

It is recommended to replace the tea with new tea every 3-4 hours and brew it using ceramic or glass utensils. For different types of tea, refer to the recommended brewing times. Drink light tea in the morning to avoid stimulation on an empty stomach, and switch to new tea leaves in the afternoon to ensure flavor and nutrition. Pay attention to changes in the color and taste of the tea soup. If the spoiled tea soup becomes cloudy or has an unpleasant odor, stop drinking immediately. Reasonably control the daily total amount of tea and avoid excessive caffeine intake that affects sleep.
