Can I boil frozen dumplings in a kettle

Opening a kettle can cook frozen dumplings, but specific conditions must be met and there are certain risks involved. Putting frozen dumplings directly into a kettle may cause uneven heating, adhesion, or damage to the container. It is recommended to use traditional cookware for safer and more efficient use.

When using a boiling water pot to cook frozen dumplings, it is necessary to ensure that the volume of the dumplings does not exceed one-third of the volume of the pot to avoid overflow when boiling. Choosing an electric kettle with a steamer function is more suitable. Place the dumplings in the steamer layer and heat them separately to reduce the risk of direct contact with the high-temperature inner pot. During the cooking process, it is necessary to closely observe the water level to prevent damage to electrical appliances caused by dry burning. The rapid melting of ice crystals on the outer layer of frozen dumplings at high temperatures may cause a sudden drop in water temperature, requiring repeated heating to extend the cooking time. However, repeated boiling may affect the taste of the dumplings.

Traditional stainless steel pots or deep pot soup pots are more suitable for cooking frozen dumplings. Adequate water space allows the dumplings to be evenly heated, and the method of boiling and pouring cold water makes it easier to control the heat. When using an induction cooker with a flat bottomed pan, the temperature can be precisely controlled by adjusting the power to avoid skin breakage. If only a kettle is available, it is recommended to thaw the dumplings at room temperature for 10 minutes to reduce the temperature difference. When cooking, keep the lid open to prevent pressure accumulation.

Long term use of a kettle for cooking may accelerate the accumulation of scale, affecting heating efficiency, and repeated contact with oil in the metal inner pot can also easily breed bacteria. Quick frozen dumplings have a high starch content and adhere to the corners of the pot, making it difficult to thoroughly clean. It is recommended to equip basic kitchen utensils for daily diet, and prioritize ensuring the safety of drinking water when opening a kettle. After emergency use in special circumstances, it is necessary to immediately boil and disinfect with white vinegar solution, and thoroughly wipe the residue with a soft cloth.
