Can boxed milk be poured into a pot and heated

Boxed milk can be directly poured into a pot for heating, but attention should be paid to controlling the heat and avoiding prolonged boiling. Heating milk at too high a temperature or boiling for too long may cause protein denaturation and nutrient loss.

Boxed milk is usually packaged aseptically and can be consumed directly. It is recommended to heat it over water or over low heat. Pour the milk into a clean pot and heat it over medium low heat to 60-70 degrees Celsius. This temperature can kill bacteria without damaging the nutritional content. During the heating process, it is necessary to constantly stir to prevent the bottom from sticking, and avoid using an iron pot to prevent chemical reactions. If milk is found to have layering, clumping, or an unpleasant odor, it should be immediately stopped from consumption.

Some specially packaged milk such as Tetra Pak packaging contains aluminum foil material in the inner layer, which may release harmful substances when directly heated at high temperatures. It is recommended to cut open and pour out this type of packaging before heating, or use a microwave oven specific container. Lactose intolerant individuals can heat milk to around 50 degrees Celsius, which can help reduce lactose activity. Heated milk should be consumed as soon as possible, as repeated heating can accelerate the loss of vitamin B.

When drinking heated milk in daily life, it can be paired with whole wheat bread or nuts to promote calcium absorption. Choosing pasteurized milk can retain more active substances, and after opening, it should be refrigerated and stored for no more than 24 hours. For those with weak gastrointestinal function, it is recommended to heat milk to a warm state before drinking to avoid stimulating the gastrointestinal mucosa when drinking cold milk on an empty stomach.
