Bananas can usually be stored for a few days

Bananas can generally be stored at room temperature for 2-3 days, and refrigerated can be extended to 5-7 days. The storage time is affected by factors such as maturity, temperature, humidity, ventilation conditions, and storage methods. The storage time of bananas is closely related to their maturity. Immature green bananas will gradually turn yellow and soft at room temperature, which usually takes 2-3 days. If the banana is fully ripe and appears bright yellow with a small amount of spots, it is recommended to consume it as soon as possible or store it in refrigeration. It is normal for the skin of mature bananas to turn black, as long as the flesh is not spoiled, it can still be consumed. Hanging bananas can reduce local spoilage caused by compression.

Refrigeration can significantly extend the shelf life of bananas, but low temperatures can quickly darken the skin. It is recommended to wrap the banana roots with plastic wrap to reduce ethylene release, or peel and freeze the fruit pulp for making milkshakes. Avoid placing bananas and fruits with high ethylene release, such as apples, as they can accelerate spoilage. If the flesh is found to be sour, flowing, or moldy, it is not edible. Tropical fruits are sensitive to low temperatures, and the refrigeration temperature should not be lower than 12 ℃. When storing bananas in daily life, they can be hung in a cool and ventilated place to avoid direct sunlight and high temperature environments. When purchasing in bulk, bananas can be stored in batches and processed separately for different maturity levels. Wrapping the roots in aluminum foil can delay ripening, and frozen banana meat can retain nutrients for baking. If long-term storage is required, dried bananas or jam can be made. Pay attention to the condition of bananas and deal with overripe fruits in a timely manner to avoid waste.
