Will regular moxibustion on the stomach help women lose weight

Regular moxibustion on the stomach may have an auxiliary weight loss effect on some women, but it cannot directly consume fat. Moxibustion mainly promotes local blood circulation and metabolism through warm stimulation, combined with dietary control and exercise to achieve the desired effect. The warming effect produced by moxibustion can stimulate the abdominal meridians, improve gastrointestinal motility, and help alleviate the problem of obesity caused by heavy dampness or poor qi and blood circulation. For women with weak constitution and slow metabolism, regular moxibustion may help reduce edema, but it should be noted that the duration of a single moxibustion session should not exceed 30 minutes to avoid low-temperature burns. Choosing acupoints such as Zhongwan and Guanyuan yields better results, and it is recommended to do so 2-3 times a week. Excessive reliance on moxibustion for weight loss may delay the scientific timing of weight loss. When moxibustion alone does not change dietary structure or increase exercise intensity, it cannot create a calorie deficit. Some people may experience discomfort such as sensitive skin or yin deficiency and excessive heat. It should be avoided during menstruation, pregnancy, and skin damage. Clinical observations have shown that without dietary and exercise intervention, the weight loss effect of moxibustion is limited.

It is recommended to use moxibustion as an auxiliary method in conjunction with a healthy weight loss plan. Maintain 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily, such as brisk walking or swimming, increase intake of high-quality protein and dietary fiber in diet, and reduce refined carbohydrates. Regular monitoring of changes in body fat percentage is recommended. If skin allergies or menstrual disorders occur, moxibustion should be temporarily suspended. Establishing regular sleep patterns and long-term healthy habits is the core of scientific weight loss.
