Where is the best place for Lichun moxibustion

Lichun moxibustion has the best effect on acupoints such as Guanyuan, Zusanli, Dazhui, Shenshu, and Shenque. During the beginning of spring, the yang qi begins to rise. Moxibustion of these acupoints can help warm up the meridians, support yang qi, and is suitable for regulating problems such as spring fatigue and low immunity.

Guanyuan acupoint is located three inches below the navel and is a key acupoint in the Ren meridian. Moxibustion at this point can tonify vital energy and improve the constitution of deficiency and coldness. Zusanli acupoint is located three inches below the outer side of the knee and belongs to the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian. Moxibustion can strengthen the spleen and stomach, and alleviate gastrointestinal dysfunction in spring. The Dazhui acupoint is located in the depression below the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra. Moxibustion can invigorate yang qi and prevent colds. Shenshu acupoint is located one and a half inches away from the spinous process of the second lumbar spine. Moxibustion can warm and tonify kidney yang, improve soreness and weakness of the waist and knees. Shenque acupoint is located in the center of the navel. Moxibustion at this point can harmonize the spleen and stomach, promote the circulation of qi and blood.

It is recommended to choose the morning period when yang qi is rising for moxibustion at each acupoint for 10-15 minutes, with local warmth and no burning pain as the degree. Pay attention to keeping warm and avoiding wind before and after moxibustion, and avoid contact with cold water for two hours. People with yin deficiency and excessive fire constitution, pregnant women, and skin damage should not be treated with moxibustion. After moxibustion, it is advisable to drink warm water and avoid eating raw, cold, and greasy foods. It can be combined with gentle exercises such as Ba Duan Jin and Tai Chi to help promote the development of yang qi.
