Purslane has a certain auxiliary therapeutic effect on hemorrhoids, and commonly used methods include decoction, fumigation, pounding, external application, and combined oral administration. Hemorrhoids are often caused by damp heat, excessive blood heat, or prolonged sitting. Purslane has a cold and sour nature, and has the effects of clearing heat, detoxifying, cooling blood, and stopping bleeding, which can alleviate symptoms of hemorrhoid swelling, pain, and bleeding.
1. Decoction fumigation
Take 60 grams of fresh purslane or 30 grams of dried purslane, boil it in water, and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes. Filter out the medicine and pour it into a basin. First, steam the anus with medication for 10 minutes. After the water temperature is suitable, take a sitz bath for 15 minutes. This method promotes local blood circulation through heat, and the flavonoids in purslane can alleviate inflammatory reactions. Taking it once a day in the morning and once in the evening can relieve swelling and pain in external hemorrhoids.
2. Mash and apply externally
Wash and mash fresh purslane into a paste, apply directly to the surface of the cleaned hemorrhoids, fix with gauze and keep for 2 hours. The organic acids and mucus in purslane can form a protective film, reducing friction and irritation. Its blood cooling effect can reduce congestion and hemorrhoids. Suitable for acute exacerbation of thrombotic external hemorrhoids, use with caution in patients with skin damage.
3. Combination for oral administration
15 grams of purslane combined with 10 grams of Diyu charcoal and 10 grams of Huaihua decoction for oral administration, one dose per day divided into two warm doses. In this formula, Eucommia ulmoides charcoal converges and stops bleeding, Sophora japonica clears the liver and cools the blood, and synergistically enhances the therapeutic effect with purslane. It is suitable for damp heat hemorrhoids with obvious rectal bleeding. Patients with spleen and stomach deficiency and cold should add 3 slices of ginger to balance the medicinal properties.
4. Tonic Diet conditioning
50g purslane is stewed with pig large intestine, and seasoned with appropriate amount of salt. Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that the pig's large intestine can induce medicinal herbs to return to the meridians, and the polysaccharide components in purslane can promote intestinal mucosal repair. Eating 2-3 times a week is suitable for those with chronic hemorrhoids and constipation.
5. Make suppositories
Mix purslane extract with cocoa butter to make anal suppositories, which are inserted into the anus before bedtime. Suppositories can directly reach the lesion, and ingredients such as ursolic acid in purslane can reduce capillary permeability, with significant effects on mixed hemorrhoids and internal hemorrhoids. Before use, clean the anus to avoid secondary infections. In addition to using purslane, hemorrhoid patients should pay attention to keeping the anus clean and dry, and apply Vaseline to protect the skin after taking a warm sitz bath every day. Avoid spicy and stimulating foods in your diet, and consume more fiber rich foods such as celery and bananas. Avoid prolonged sitting and standing, and do anal exercises for 3 minutes every hour. If there is continuous bleeding, hemorrhoid prolapse that cannot be retrieved, etc., seek medical attention promptly to rule out other anal and rectal diseases. Pregnant women and individuals with allergies should consult a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner before using purslane.
