Cupping for weight loss may cause symptoms such as skin damage, local infections, nutritional imbalance, repeated short-term effects, and induced discomfort. The main risks include skin bruising, pore inflammation, electrolyte imbalance, weight regain, dizziness and fatigue.

1. Skin injury
The negative pressure generated by cupping may cause capillary rupture, forming subcutaneous bruising or blisters, especially when the operation is improper or the cupping time is too long. People with sensitive skin may experience persistent erythema, which may be accompanied by itching or flaking during the recovery period. Attention should be paid to keeping the wound clean and avoiding scratching to induce infection.
2. Local infection
Improper disinfection of containers may introduce pathogenic bacteria into pores, leading to folliculitis or cellulitis. Manifesting as redness, swelling, heat and pain at the cupping site, and in severe cases, purulent exudation may occur. Patients with diabetes or people with low immunity have a higher risk of infection and need to seek medical treatment in time.
III. Nutritional Imbalance
Relying solely on cupping may neglect dietary management, leading to insufficient protein and vitamin intake. Long term calorie restriction combined with frequent cupping can easily lead to hypoglycemia, muscle loss, and metabolic problems such as menstrual disorders or hair loss in some populations.

4. Short term effects Repeated
Cupping mainly promotes local blood circulation and water metabolism to temporarily reduce weight, but cannot sustainably break down fat. After stopping the operation, the body fluids may rebalance, and weight may quickly increase. Repeated operation may reduce skin elasticity.
V. Inducing Discomfort
Fasting cupping can easily cause hypoglycemic reactions such as palpitations and cold sweats, and weak individuals may experience cupping. Some people may experience headaches or nausea after cupping, which may be related to stress reactions or changes in posture. It is recommended to lie down and rest while supplementing with sugar.

It is recommended to use cupping as an auxiliary method in conjunction with scientific diet and exercise, with a single operation not exceeding 15 minutes and an interval of more than 3 days. Choose a reputable medical institution for operation and avoid contact with cold water within 24 hours after cupping. If there is persistent fever, local suppuration, or severe dizziness, immediate medical attention is required. This method is contraindicated for patients during pregnancy, skin ulcers, and bleeding disorders. Daily healthy weight can be maintained by increasing aerobic exercise and controlling fine carbohydrate intake.
